Win for the U15 boys, Mills leads U14 girls to victory with a century
Runs down the order helped Cricket Shropshire’s Under 15 Boys to victory when they hosted Worcestershire U16s Rapids at Frankwell.
They found themselves in some trouble early on batting first at 55-5 then 86-6 with opener Dylan Barkley hitting 24.
But Jake Adams hit 76 with support from skipper Ralph Davies (33) and Sayak Mukherjee (20) to see their side to 241-9 from their 50 overs.
In the reply, the Shropshire bowlers kept things tight and kept chipping away to restrict the visitors with Davies taking 3-28 from his ten overs and George Jenkins claiming 2-9 at the end of the innings.
The Pears were dismissed for 168 to give Shropshire victory by 73 runs.

Wicket-keeper and opener Daniel Ball (pictured left) held the innings together when the Boys U14s (pictured above) travelled to Cuckney CC to take on Nottinghamshire.
He made an unbeaten 79 as Shropshire finished their 45 overs on 178-9 after winning the toss and batting first.
In reply, the hosts reached 135-4 off 27.1 overs when the weather intervened and gave them the victory on Duckworth/Lewis.
The Girls Under 14s had a big victory when they hosted Herefordshire at Willey CC in the first round of the County One Day KO Cup with skipper Mills Jones leading the way.
She hit a superb unbeaten 102 from just 75 balls before her side was bowled out for 246 in the 40th over with Gouri Cherukuri chipping in with 23.
The bowlers then got to work, dismissing the visitors for 80 with Verity Pardoe claiming 3-11, Sophia Kundu 2-13, Lexi Thavenot 2-11and Esme Bartlett-Minton 2-27.
They then travelled to Walmley CC to take on Warwickshire in a national Under 14 County One Day Group Game and found the going a bit tougher.
The hosts batted first and finished their 20 overs on 156-6 with Emma Brown claiming an impressive 3-18 and Verity Pardoe 2-24.
In reply, Shropshire were dismissed for 100 with Mills Jones top scoring with 28.
