Beyond the Boundary
Find out the work we do with Chance to Shine in Schools across Shropshire.
Cricket Shropshire’s Beyond the Boundary programme aims to take cricket out into communities which would otherwise not get the chance to access the game.
The programme was launched in 2021 and continues to grow across Shropshire.
During the Autumn 2022, there was an eight-week programme in Lightmoor funded by Telford & Wrekin Council.
And the Board has also supported Energize Shrewsbury, Telford & Wrekin with their Refugee Project in Shrewsbury with further activity possible in the New Year.
This follows on from a series of sessions held at venues across Shropshire during the Summer Holidays over the past two years.
Club Summer Camps
During the Summer of 2023, we aimed to boost community activity whilst also enhancing clubs junior playing offer. So we delivered five Club Summer Camps throughout the Summer Holidays.
These camps were free of charge and gave the children the opportunity to get their hands on some free kit and t-shirts as well as fantastic coaching and a link to their local club.
With thanks to the hard work of the volunteers at each of these clubs, the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and now have the opportunity to carryon this work and expand their junior offer in the future.
These camps were held at Ellesmere CC, Allscott Heath CC, Church Stretton CC, Harpers CC and Hodnet & Peplow CC.
Urban Games
We work with Telford & Wrekin Council throughout the School Holidays to deliver Urban Games across Telford. Urban Games aims to take activity into socially and economically deprived areas in Telford & Wrekin.
This free activity is fun, inclusive and safe for anyone that wants to come down and play cricket. These two hour sessions (typically 1-3pm) involve skills and game play whilst meeting new people and learning a new sport.
