Oakmeadow take School Games cricket crown
Coaches from Cricket Shropshire were delighted to be part of Energize Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin’s annual School Games Finals Day this week.
We had a really great morning of competitive indoor cricket held at the Shrewsbury Tennis Dome.
Six teams from across Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin, who were successful in their regional competitions, came together at Shrewsbury Sports Village.
The six teams taking part were St Marys Bridgnorth, Oswestry Primary, Sir Alexandar Fleming, Ludlow Primary, Oakmeadow Primary from Shrewsbury and Captain Webb from Dawley.
At the end of the event, Oakmeadow Primary were crowned champions.
Cricket Shropshire’s Schools and Community Programme Manager Sacha Lee said: “Congratulations to all the schools who took part.
“Thank you to Energize and Schools Games for hosting this amazing event – it was great to see 48 teams from 35 schools taking part in all the activities.”
In total 375 youngsters were involved on the day along with 55 young leaders. In addition to cricket there was netball, rugby, tri golf, athletics and archery events.
