Young Ambassadors Programme
Cricket Shropshire’s hugely popular Young Ambassadors Scheme was first held in 2021 and has gone from strength to strength since then.
The programme, which is backed by current Elite Panel Umpire and former Worcestershire bowler Jack Shantry, aims to give youngsters aged 13-17 a chance to develop their leadership skills.
Jack helped launch the programme when he donated the proceeds from his benefit year to Cricket Shropshire and is now our Patron.
The course includes session on Umpiring and Scoring, First Aid, grounds maintenance, coaching and Safeguarding and EDI.
The participants are then asked to go back to their clubs and compete 20 hours of voluntary work before they graduate from the programme.
Since 2021, we have seen dozens of youngsters take part with our Young Ambassadors Scheme and then go back to their clubs and become valued members of the volunteer network.
