Cricket Shropshire at Lord’s for National Finals Day

Sacha, Darrell and Shannon enjoyed a memorable visit to Lord’s Cricket Ground on Wednesday 9th September, where they attended the inaugural Knight-Stokes State School National Finals Day.

The new national competition gave state school pupils from across the country the opportunity to represent their schools and experience competitive cricket on a much bigger stage.

A fantastic 16 schools from across Shropshire took part in the competition. Although none progressed to the National Finals Day, the feedback from the schools involved has been extremely positive.

Their participation reflects the growing opportunities for young people across the county to enjoy cricket, develop their skills and represent their schools.

There was still plenty for Cricket Shropshire to celebrate at Lord’s, as Shropshire scorer Rutvi Shah was selected to score the girls’ final.

Seeing Rutvi performing such an important role on the national stage was a particularly proud moment. As a Shropshire scorer, she continues to make everyone at Cricket Shropshire proud as she progresses along her officiating journey.

Congratulations to Rutvi, and to all 16 Shropshire schools that participated in this exciting new competition!

Keep an eye out for further details for the 2027 competition. This could be a great opportunity to play in the finals at ‘The Home of Cricket’.
