Spaces available on Young Ambassadors 2024
Cricket Shropshire has launched its Young Ambassadors Programme for 2024 – and there are still a few spaces available.
The programme has been running in Shropshire over the past three and has proved popular.
It is aimed at encouraging young people between the ages of 14 and 17 years to get involved volunteering at their clubs.
Details:
- Date: Tuesday 28th May 2024
- Time: 9.30am until 4pm (Please ensure they bring a packed lunch along with them)
- Venue: Wrekin College, Sutherland Road, Wellington, TF1 3BH
- Cost: £30 (Clubs have covered this cost previously, as recognition for the volunteering work of the participant)
During the day, the young ambassadors will complete First Aid training, followed by the Young Officials course which will run through the basics of scoring and umpiring.
Finally, they will complete the Activator Training to allow them to support the delivery of All Stars and/or Dynamos sessions at their club.
Young Ambassadors on completion will receive a certificate for their first aid course, a T-shirt for the young officials’ participation and be certified to support National Programme delivery (subject to age, safeguarding course and DBS completion).
Please note, to be fully qualified as a Lead Activator individuals must be 18 years of age. We are delivering the Activator course as an introduction to coaching. Young Ambassadors will not be able to lead All Stars or Dynamos session and will be included in the session ratios as a child.
Clubs need to ensure they have enough qualified and eligible Activators to meet the 1 Activator:24 Children ratio.
Programme organiser Katie Rushton said: “The aim is that these initial courses will give the Young Ambassadors the skills to start to engage in activity at their club.
“We will look to arrange further opportunities for them to learn more about the working of a cricket club such as ground maintenance throughout the Summer.
“The Young Ambassadors will record the hours they spend volunteering; these will be reviewed following the Summer.
“We will then look to reward and recognise them for their hard work and effort at a presentation in the Autumn.”
