Peter Wilkinson
One of the founder members of Shropshire Cricket Board, Peter Wilkinson, has died.
Peter was well-known in Shropshire cricketing circles for his many years service, first as secretary of the Shropshire Cricket Association and then the Shropshire Cricket Board when it was formed.
Peter was a founder member of the SCB and apart from his role as secretary he was also a key member of the Board’s Finance & General Purposes Committee.
Peter continued his role as Board secretary for several years until he retired and was succeeded by another Shropshire Cricketing stalwart, Jan Griffiths [Shelton CC].
Peter’s son James, was a very talented cricketer who successfully represented all the Shropshire Age Group teams.
Peter also served as President of the Shropshire Cricket League for several seasons.
His funeral took place on Thursday, April 4.
