Women’s XI start 2026 campaign

Cricket Shropshire’s trophy winning Women’s XI start their 2026 campaign this Sunday with a T20 double header against Norfolk at Allscott Heath CC.

The team claimed silverware last season when they won their 50 over competition with a final victory over Oxfordshire which saw them gain promotion to Division One in that format for this season.

In last year’s T20 competition, they finished top of their group only to lose out in the final, again against Oxfordshire, at Wormsley.

This Sunday’s fixtures at Allscott Heath are due to start at 11am and 3pm, spectators welcome.

Skipper Lara Jones said: “We’ve worked hard all winter to prepare for the 2026 season. We’re hoping to continue our momentum from last year and hopefully go one better in the T20 competition and win promotion.

“We’ve got a strong team for Sunday and we’re hoping to start the season well.”

Cricket Shropshire’s Pathway and Coaching Manager Ed Ashlin said: “The squad warmed up last weekend with two T20 games against Shrewsbury School and Staffordshire which gave valuable outdoor match practice despite the challenging weather.

“After a successful summer last season – gaining promotion to Division 1 in the 50 over format and narrowly missing out in the T20 competition to Oxfordshire, the squad are looking forward to a packed schedule of cricket in 2026.”

Squad: Lara Jones (c), Kate Brazier, Isabelle Crann, Aamna Khan, Millie Parry, Isabella Posso Lawrence, Shriya Sastry, Harriet Shuker, Olivia Smith, Libby Snowdon, Libby Thomas (wk), Cerys Tippings
