Women’s XI face Cheshire test
Cricket Shropshire’s Women’s XI are looking to finish their season in style when they host Cheshire at Whitchurch CC on Sunday (August 30th).
They go into the game boosted by two recent wins which have given themselves a chance of establishing themselves in the Metro Bank One Day Cup League 3 Division 1.
Recent wins over Wiltshire and Cambridgeshire, posting impressive 300 plus totals in both games, come in their first season as this level after winning promotion at the end of last year.
Coach Sam Whitney said: “We are going into the game full of confidence, especially with the bat, recording back-to-back 300 plus scores.
“We have put ourselves in a great position to remain in this league, and that would be a huge achievement.
“We have a couple of players missing, but we have Alex Hale back which is great as it adds vital experience. We know they will be tough opposition, but we are confident and want to finish on a high.”
The 50-over game at Whitchurch CC’s Heath Road ground starts at 10.30am, spectators welcome.
