Telford Big Bash is a smash

Staff from Cricket Shropshire were delighted to be invited to the fun and excitement of this year’s Big Bash 2025 Hard Tennis Ball Tournament at Bowring Park in Wellington, Telford.

Hosted by the Telford Strikers Cricket Club, the event brought together eight dynamic teams from across the region and beyond, creating an unforgettable day of fast-paced cricket, community spirit and inclusive fun.

Teams taking part were Telford Strikers Kings, Telford Strikers Royals, Rebel Risers Shrewsbury, Telugu Titans Telford, Gobowen Oswestry, White Walkers Preston, MMCA Merther and TBCC Chester. 

Cricket Shropshire were proud to be part of the event, with Lead Officer Steve Reese and Schools & Community Programme Officer Sacha Lee attending as special guests alongside Jade Jackson, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Senior Strategic Outdoor Play and Recreational Specialist. 

The trio were warmly welcomed during the opening ceremony, and their involvement was praised for helping make the day even more meaningful.

Walkers Preston clinched the top spot in the tournament, followed by Rebel Risers Shrewsbury in second place. Both Telford Strikers teams made it to the semi-finals finishing.

Reflecting on the day, Sacha said: “We were really privileged to be asked to support this event with amazing talent on show, and to see Bowring Park alive with vibrant music, lively cricket and wonderful food was fabulous.”
