New Tape Ball indoor competitions for state secondary schools

Cricket Shropshire is launching two new indoor tape ball competitions in the county for State Schools in conjunction with Chance to Shine.

The aim of the competitions is to encourage more secondary schools in Shropshire to get involved in cricket

The competitions will take place at Shrewsbury Sports Village in May and will be for Under 13s and Under 15s.

The U13s competition will take place on Thursday, May 8, with the Under 15s competition on Thursday, May 15, with both scheduled to take place from 9.30am-2.30pm with the exact timings dependent on the number of entries.

Cricket Shropshire Regional Development Programme Manager Darrell Corfield said: “We are delighted to be able to offer these two new competitions for State Schools in conjunction with Chance to Shine.

“There has been a decline in the number of secondary schools offering cricket over the years, so we want to do all we can to see it reintroduced and promote the game as a fun and inclusive option.

“Cricket is a great game for everyone and tape ball competitions are a quick and easy way to youngsters to get involved in a fun and friendly environment.”
