Liv wins national ECB award

Huge congratulations to Shropshire’s Liv Preston from Allscott CC who has won the national Rising Star accolade as part of the ECB’s Cricket Collective Awards for 2024.

Each year the ECB stages the Cricket Collective Awards to recognise the efforts of the stand-out volunteers across the country.

Each county choses their winners in 12 categories – the Shropshire winners were recognised at the annual awards dinner last November – and these go forward to the national awards.

The ECB has now announced that Liv has won the national Rising Star award for young volunteers aged 11-16 making a difference in the game.

The winners were revealed in a special video released by the ECB today with Liv’s name announced by England opening bat Tammy Beaumont. It can be viewed on the ECB’s X channel on social media or via the link to the ECB website HERE.

Her nomination for the Shropshire award said: “Liv has had an incredible year, developing significantly in both skill and confidence. She is a positive role model, actively supporting and encouraging her team, and taking her leadership roles seriously.

“She is keen to learn more about scoring and umpiring, and promotes cricket within her school community.

“Her attitude, resilience, and support for others are inspiring, making her a rising star in the sport. She consistently helps others during training and matches, offering guidance and feedback.

“Her enthusiasm and dedication inspire her peers, and her leadership roles demonstrate her commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.”

Congratulations to Liv from all at Cricket Shropshire. The ECB will be releasing a video highlighting her award later in the week.

Congratulations also to Holly Fozzard from Cound CC who was highly commended in the Inspired to Play category for individuals going above and beyond to open up the game to new audiences.
