EEP festival a big hit

Cricket Shropshire’s first Early Engagement Programme (EEP) Festival of the summer has been staged at Prestfelde School.

The day saw Under 11 and 12 teams from the Central, North and South take on each other – with the Under 11s playing Pairs cricket and the Under 12s playing T20s.

Cricket Shropshire’s Early Engagement Programme Manager Darrell Corfield said: “On a pleasant and long day of action we were treated to some exciting cricket played by Shropshire’s new young cricketers.

“Over 250 overs were bowled with runs aplenty with good numbers of 4s and 6s. Some great catches, run outs and the odd mistake which are all very welcome – but above all FUN was had.

“Our Early Engagement Programme (EEP) aims to broaden the talent base in cricket by providing inclusive and developmentally appropriate experiences for young players aged 9-12, laying the groundwork for future progression into County Age Group (CAG) squads.”

Thanks to Prestfelde School for supplying the brilliant picture.
