Women’s XI look to bounce back after final defeat

Cricket Shropshire’s Women’s XI switch focus to their 50 over campaign this weekend after the disappointment of losing in their national T20 final.

They take on Staffordshire in the Metro Bank One Day Cup League 3 Division One at Wem CC in their second game in the competition after promotion last season.

It comes after defeat against Dorset at the iconic Arundel Castle ground in Sussex in the national Vitality Blast T20 Blast Division 3 League 2 final by seven wickets.

It means the side have twice won their group and got to the final only to fall at the final hurdle.

After losing the toss, Shropshire made a steady start with openers Libby Thomas and Cerys Tippings putting on 30 for the first wicket.

Thomas made 21 and Libby Snowdon 17, but once they were both dismissed the rest of the batting fell away and Shropshire were dismissed for 106 in the final over.

In the reply, Isabelle Crann picked up two wickets, but Dorset claimed the trophy in the 14th over.
