The continued growth of Women’s Hardball cricket in Shropshire was reflected in the running of two Indoor leagues in the county this winter – a County League and a Development League.
Condover claimed the final Women’s Softball trophy of the indoor season when they beat Frankton Foxes in the final of the Strategic Leisure North Shropshire League at Walford College.
Cricket Shropshire will be running three state school-only competitions this Summer as part of the Chance to Shine Programme (Chance to Compete).
Ryan Barker of Staffordshire S9’s county squad has been named as the Shropshire Disabled Cricket League (SDCL) Player of the Season for 2023.
As part of our development of Women and Girls’ cricket in Shropshire, we have been encouraging participants to get involved in officiating.
To mark International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the huge growth in Women & Girls’ Cricket in Shropshire.
This season’s Shropshire Disabled Cricket League is underway.
Cricket Shropshire is setting up a Women & Girls’ Cricket Forum this year.
The aim of the forum is to share views and experiences of females involved in cricket within in Shropshire.
This includes:
Women & Girls Recreational Cricket Officer Katie Rushton said: “We will hold informal meetings throughout the year to hear from as many people as possible.
“We are keen to get new individuals involved in the discussion and involve as wide a range of views as possible.
“We will then aim to follow up with actions to make a real difference across the network.”
The first meeting is expected to be held either in late February or early March.
