State school competitions a big hit

Teams from Thomas Adams, Newport Girls High and Bridgnorth Endowed were the winners as three State school competitions organised by Cricket Shropshire reached their climax.

The Finals days for the Under 13 Girls, Under 15 Girls and Under 12 Boys were all held at Frankwell CC in Shrewsbury in recent weeks.

In the Under 13 Girls competition, teams taking part were Lakelands, Marches (two teams), Newport Girls High (two teams), Ercall Wood, Charlton and William Brookes

Winners were Newport Girls High who added this title to their triumph at the indoor equivalent earlier in the year.

The Under 15 Girls competition saw teams from Marches, Ercall Wood, Thomas Adams, Charlton, Sir John Talbot and Mary Webb taking part.

Winners were Thomas Adams who along with the U13 Newport Girls High side will take part in their regional finals next month in Birmingham.

Taking part in the Under Boys 12 competition were teams from Bridgnorth Endowed, Thomas Adams, Sir John Talbot, William Brookes, Charlton and Ercall Wood.

Winners were Bridgnorth Endowed with Sir John Talbot runners-up.

Both were unbeaten going into the final match with each other with Endowed winning on the last ball in a cracking contest.

This was a pilot competition with currently no progression to regional rounds for the winners.
