Shropshire double at regionals

Huge congratulations to Newport Girls High U13s and Thomas Adams School U15 Girls on winning their regional competitions.
Both teams travelled to Edgbaston to represent Shropshire in Chance to Shine’s Chance to Compete regional finals – and both won their age groups.
They qualified for the regional finals by winning the Shropshire competitions run for state schools earlier this Summer with the finals days being held at Frankwell CC.
They were up against the County winners from Herefordshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire at the West Midlands Finals at Edgbaston.
They also got the chance to meet members of the Central Sparks team during the day and take part in a Q&A session with them.
Cricket Shropshire Lead Officer Steve Reece said: “Congratulations to both Newport Girls High and Thomas Adams on their brilliant success at Edgbaston.
“It’s great to see two teams from Shropshire emerging as winners in the regional Chance to Shine competition and highlights the work we have been doing in state secondary schools to promote the game.”
