Ollie’s ton as U14s claim victory
Ollie Dyson hit a brilliant unbeaten 130 from just 114 balls as Shropshire Under 14s claimed victory over Herefordshire at Ludlow CC.
The opener, pictured left, continued his fine form this season as Shropshire racked up 243-8 from their 40 overs after winning the toss and batting first.
In the reply, Freddie Ward was the pick of the bowlers claiming 4-16 after an opening burst from Charlie Wheldon and Harmilan Grover (3-16) had reduced the visitors to 10-4 early on.
Luca Evans claimed 2-4 to clean up the tail as Herefordshire were dismissed for 136 to give Shropshire victory by 107 runs.
The Under 16 Boys, pictured above, played their final game of the season when they also took on their Herefordshire counterparts at Brockhampton CC.
Batting first, they were bowled out for 139 with Finn Jones leading the way at the top of the order with 41 and Max Lloyd chipping in with 23 at the end of the innings.
Ryan Cumming (2-31) and Dhairya Jani (3-35) gave Shropshire hope of victory as they reduced their hosts to 47-5 in reply, but middle order resistance helped them to claim a three-wicket victory.
Shropshire’s Under 18 Girls shared the spoils with Leicestershire in their final two T20 games of the season at Sentinel CC as they finished third in their group table.
In the first game, batting first, they made 108-1 from their allocation with Esther Hurford unbeaten on 51 and Millie Parry hitting 28.
Freya Jones (2-16), Kate Brazier (2-24) and Megan Wigley (2-11) helped to restrict Leicestershire to 106-9 in reply to claim victory by two runs, with Brazier conceding just four runs and taking a wicket in the final over.
In the second game, they again batted first and finished on 107-7 with Lauren Kenvyn leading the way with 52 off 59 balls.
They then reduced Leicestershire to 46-4 in the reply thanks to a couple of run outs, but the visitors managed to edge home for the loss of just one more wicket with five balls to spare.
It was a busy week for the Under 15 Girls who were involved in two 40 over games.
They travelled to Leamington to take on Warwickshire where the hosts batted first and finished their 40 overs on 291-4 with Amy Connelly taking two of the wickets to fall. She then top scored in the reply with 28, but her side were bowled out for 109.
They then travelled to Bromsgrove to take on Worcestershire and Rebecca Mullard-Wilson hit 48 off 53 balls and skipper Millie Parry 20, but the rest of the batting failed to fire and they were dismissed for 92.
In reply, Connelly claimed 3-22, but the hosts claimed victory by five wickets.
The Under 13 Girls were also in action against Worcestershire at Redditch and bowled their hosts out for 133 with Charlotte Arron claiming 3-9 and Seline Mendis 3-9. In reply, Alice Deacon hit 30, but Shropshire were dismissed for 87.
The Under 12 Boys hosted Worcestershire at Willey CC and saw lots of batters reach double figures but no-one managed to go on and get more than 19 as they were bowled out for 126 after 40 overs.
In the reply, Lewis Sampson took 2-12 and Ruben Pembleton 2-19, but the visitors reached their victory target for the loss of five wickets after 32 overs.
