Seniors nets start this week
Shropshire Seniors are stepping up preparations for the 2025 season with nets booked starting this week.
Skippers for the 2025 season were elected at the AGM earlier this year and are:
- O50 1st XI Captain – Carl Ward
- O50 2nd XI Captain – Steve Maden
- O60 1st XI Captain – Loll Woodhall
- O60 2nd XI Captain – Jon Archer
Indoor nets have been booked at Shrewbury School’s Indoor Centre as follows (all Tuesdays 9-10pm):
- 11/18/25 March – two lanes
- 1 April – two lanes
Chair John Foster said: “There are only two nets available so please make sure you have registered your attendance with either Carl or Loll to make sure we keep a check on numbers. It won’t be possible for everyone attending to have a go with the willow.
“In addition to these nets the O50 have arranged a squad session on Saturday 29 March from 1-3pm again at the Shrewsbury School.
“As the fixtures start a little later this year, we will also be arranging some outdoor nets when the light and weather permit.”
The Over 50s and Over 60s are always looking for new recruits keen to get involved in their competitions, anyone interested can email John via seniorscricket@cricketshropshire.co.uk or contact skippers Carl and Loll direct.

Will there be any plans to having a senior ladies team, aged 50+?
I loved playing softball, but sadly I’m aged out.
Hi Karen, thank you for your comment. At this stage there are no plans for an senior ladies team, it may be we something we look to implement in the future. However, there is no upper age limit to the softball or hardball recreational offers running at clubs across the county, so please do get involved!
