Impressive performances for Age Group sides
The U15 Girls who took on Warwickshire at Whittington
There were some fine individual performances when Cricket Shropshire’s Under 18 Boys took on Herefordshire at Wrekin College in a two-day game – part of a busy few weeks for County Age Group sides.
Batting first, Shropshire made 288-9 declared from 60 overs with opener Finn Jones leading the way with a run-a-ball 86.
Oliver Parton chipped in with 28, Gabe Downes 20, William Jenkins 37 and Arjun Cherukuri unbeaten on 22 while William Jones hit 34 from just 36 balls.
Herefordshire were then bowled out for 192 in their first innings with Parton claiming 4-28 and Alex Heath 3-16.
Parton led the way in the second innings with 94 from 88 balls, Jones made 33 and Josh McDonald 59 as Shropshire raced to 259-7 from 38 overs in their second innings before they declared.
Heath claimed the wickets of both openers but Herefordshire held out to claim the draw, reaching 160-5 off 51 overs at the close.
There were also some notable performances for the Under 18 Girls as they enjoyed their trip to Dalton Cricket Club in Cumbria.
Millie Parry hit her maiden century as Shropshire batted first and made 213 before they were bowled out at the end of the 45th over. She remained unbeaten on 114 from 124 balls at the end of the innings, Amber Daniels-Sanders chipping in with 27.
Then Freya Jones claimed 4-13, Isabelle Crann 3-13 and Neve Crann 2-12 as the hosts were dismissed for 80 to give Shropshire victory by 133 runs.
The following day following an overnight stop, Shropshire claimed two T20 victories over the same opposition.
In the first game they bowled Cumbria out for 92 with Isabelle Crann claiming 3-8, Kate Brazier 2-21 and M Wiggley 2-24. They claimed victory by eight wickets with Erin Newey unbeaten on 36 and Brazier 25.
In the second game, Shropshire batted first and made 131-8 with Parry top scoring with 30 and Brazier hitting 25. The hosts were restricted to 106-7 to give Shropshire victory by 25 runs, Isabelle Wedgbury claiming 2-17.
The Under 16 Boys claimed an 82-run victory when they hosted Buckinghamshire at Wrekin College.
Batting first they were indebted to Morgan Ward’s 86 as they were bowled out for 169, Finn Jones chipping in with 21. The bowlers soon got to work in the reply with Ryan Cumming claiming 5-35 and Max Lloyd 4-12 at Bucks were dismissed for 87.
The Under 14 boys claimed a six-wicket victory when they hosted Oxfordshire at Worfield CC. Batting first, the visitors finished their 45 overs on 219-9 with Ollie Dyson, Rufus Drake and George Davies all picking up two wickets apiece.
A century from opener and skipper Dyson then helped his side claim the victory in the 33rd over, with Will Parkinson-Witte chipping in with 34.
The Under 11 Girls enjoyed two victories when they entertained Herefordshire at Alberbury CC.
In the first game, Shropshire were put in to bat and finished their 20 overs on 131-5 with Gouri Cherukuri top scoring with an unbeaten 27.
Ava Wilson starred in the reply, claiming 5-10 as Herefordshire were dismissed for 89 to give Shropshire victory by 42 runs.
In the second game, a 16-over-a-side affair, Shropshire again batted first and made 107-9, Esme Bartlett-Minton top scoring with an unbeaten 15. In the reply, Shropshire restricted the visitors to 77-5 with Cherukuri claiming an impressive 3-4 from her three overs.
They then claimed a seven-wicket victory over Cricket Wales East in a 25-over game. Batting first, the Welsh side were restricted to 103-8 with Gianna Filippi claiming 3-10 from four overs.
Unbeaten knocks of 28 from Seline Mendis and 29 from Cherukuri ensured victory was secured in the 18thover
The Under 15 Girls (pictured at the top of the page) were bowled out for 166 when they travelled to Leek to take on their Staffordshire counterparts.
Openers Rebecca Mullard-Wilson (35) and Belle Wilcox (44) gave a good foundation with a 92-run opening partnership, but the rest of the batting failed to fire.
In the reply Isabelle Wedgbury claimed 3-27 and Sophia Parton 2-23, but the hosts claimed the victory by four wickets.
They then came up just short when they took on Warwickshire at Whittington, losing by just three runs.
Batting first, Warwickshire were dismissed for 22 with Parton claiming 3-28, Mullard-Wilson 2-21 and Isabelle Crann 2-45.
Skipper Amy Connelly kept Shropshire in the hunt for victory in the reply, hitting a brilliant 98 off just 89 balls, while Parton hit 28 and Ellie Barlow 20, but victory hopes were dashed in the final over as the final wicket fell on 219 with three balls to go.
The Under 13 Boys were out-gunned by Staffordshire at Beacon CC, when the hosts batted first and finished their 40 overs on an imposing 308-7, Sayak Mukherjee, George Jenkins and Walter Sulman-Evans all picking up two wickets.
In the reply Dylan Barkley hit 30, Lucas Marshall 20 and Harry Dillon 35, but Shropshire were bowled out for 137.
The Under 11 boys travelled to Harborne to take on Warwickshire and were bowled out for 178 with Kyle Rudge top scoring with 37. The hosts claimed victory by four wickets with Gabe Hanratty leading the attack with 2-43.
