Furrows Mid-Week League Division Two trophy up for grabs
Newport and Codsall go head-to-head tonight at Audley Avenue in a game which will decide the Furrows East Shropshire Mid-week League Division Two title.
Codsall top the table with one game to go, but if Newport claim victory and restrict the number of bonus points the visitors receive, they can take the trophy which will be presented after the game.
It comes after Codsall suffered a last ball defeat to Broseley in their last game.
Batting first, visitors Broseley made 152-8 from their 20 overs with Alfie Oakes hitting an unbeaten 52 off 34 balls before retiring and Sam Murdoch chipping in with 22 and Lawrie Griffiths 20 not out.
Prab Singh took the bowling honours, claiming 4-10 from his four overs.
He also starred with the bat, hitting an unbeaten 51 off 35 balls.
But Brandon Platt (2-17) and Dan Handley (2-27) kept Broseley in the hunt, and it came down to the last over with Codsall still needing 12 runs to win.
They managed to get 10 off the first five balls, but Chris Lloyd then bowled Taha Munawar with the last ball of the game to seal the victory for Broseley by one run.
Newport stayed in the hunt with a six-wicket victory over Albrighton at Audley Avenue.
Batting first, Albrighton made 126-7 with Sam Wood top scoring with 38 and Charlie Mayhew 32 not out off 18 balls. Pankaj Shah claimed 3-14 from his four overs and Ollie Tellwright taking 2-34.
Swapnil Mundra led the way in the reply with. An unbeaten 52 off 35 balls as Newport claimed the victory in the 18thover.
