Fire beat Flame by the barest of margins!

The Strategic Leisure Women’s Indoor Softball League at Wrekin College reached a thrilling conclusion with Condover Fire claim victory over Condover Flame by just one run.
It was the conclusion of a Finals night which saw three close games go down to the wire.
Twelve teams took part in the league: Albrighton Roses, Renegades, Shelton, Madeley, Condover Flame & Fire, Allscott Heath, Newport, Wrekin Wreckers, Shrewsbury, Willey and Forton. 
Teams were split into two divisions with the top two from each division progressing through to the final. 
There was a two-way tie for second place in Pool A, with Condover Fire progressing through as winners and Shrewsbury as runners up thanks to their head to head victory against joint second place team Allscott Heath. 
Pool B winners Condover Flame progressed through with runner-up Shelton. 
The first semi-final saw Condover Fire take on Shelton. 
Shelton batted first setting a strong net target of 242 runs, thanks to performances from Stacy P and Sophie R.
Annette D claimed the bowling honours for Fire, going for just five runs off her two overs. 
Shelton also bowled well with Megan H bowling two overs for just three runs and Jess B one over for three runs, but Fire edged home to claim victory by one run.

Runners-up Condover Flame

The second semi-final saw Condover Flame take on Shrewsbury. 
Shrewsbury batted first setting a net score of 245, with top scorers Amanda E and Tasha W, Claire T. Brodi A’s then took two wickets in the reply, but Flame managed to secure a two-run victory thanks to the top scorer Helen T. 
In the final, Fire batted first setting a target of 249 with Jen Y and Annette D the top scorers. There was very tidy bowling from Claire T once again and Becky D. 
Flame fought well with the bat with Claire T top scoring on 14 not out. However, another fantastic bowling performance from Annette D and Eva R, both with one over for nine runs and Annette taking the only wicket, saw Condover Fire Claim victory by just one run.

“It highlights how much the ladies have progressed and continue to do so through the year-round Women’s Softball Offer. 
“The league also continues to provide a development offer for those teams who are at different stages of their softball journey.”
