Disability
Find out the Disability Cricket Offers we have in Shropshire and how to get involved.
Disability Cricket
Disability cricket forms a major part of the ECB’s strategy to make it easier for all communities to engage with the game.
It is an exciting area to be involved in with the view to expansion in clubs offering cricket and provision for this.
Cricket Shropshire supports community activity ranging from delivering coaching and competitions in SEN schools/colleges to offering support to the Shropshire Disabled Cricket Association with the running of their annual indoor league.
There’s a clear pathway for anyone with a disability – be that physical, learning or hearing – to get involved.
In addition to schools, there’s Super 1s with four hubs around the county providing an introduction to the sport with active and inclusive sessions for those aged 12-25.
There’s the S9s – a Shropshire squad playing softball cricket with regional competitions including games against other counties.
Then there’s the Shropshire D40 side playing hard ball cricket against other counties in a national competition.
Success at D40 level can lead to selection for the Disability Premier League, the final of which is screened live on Sky, and ultimately one of the England Disability squads.
