Clubs can join Women’s T20 World Cup party
The countdown to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England and Wales is in full swing – and clubs in Shropshire can join in the fun.
The opening ceremony and the first game between England and Sri Lanka take place at Edgbaston next Friday, June 12.
Cricket Shropshire’s Women & Girls’ Officer Naomi Payne said: “It’s brilliant to see the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup being hosted in England and Wales this Summer.
“It’s going to be an exciting tournament featuring the top 12 teams at venues across the country.
“It is an ideal opportunity for clubs across Shropshire to promote the women’s game and encourage more women and girls of all ages to get involved in cricket.
“We have seen a huge growth in the women and girls’ game in Shropshire in recent years with more and more participants and an increasing number of competitions and tournaments throughout the years.
“The ECB is encouraging clubs to ‘Catch the Spirit’ by hosting a party at clubs across the country – including in Shropshire.
“It’s a great way to spark joy and community pride within your community with food, drink, music and entertainment alongside games or All Stars and Dynamos cricket activity.
“It can showcase your club’s welcoming atmosphere, attract new members and create unforgettable memories.”
A Catch the Spirit party could be a stand alone event, linked with a club fixture or tournament, or scheduled to be a watch along with one of the tournament’s big games.
Clubs should register their event on ClubSpark and be in with a chance to receive some goodies.
The first 100 clubs to register will receive a £100 voucher to help get them started with party basics.
The first 500 clubs to register will receive ICC Women’s T20 World Cup party packs.
Watch out during the next few days for special competitions to win tickets to games at Edgbaston during the tournament and also our fabulous World Cup Predictor game which will be launched later this week.
