Cricket Shropshire supports inclusive sport at Cavalier Centre
Cricket Shropshire was proud to be part of the Energize event held at the Cavalier Centre near Much Wenlock – a fantastic venue known for its outstanding work supporting children and young people with additional needs through sport and equine therapy.
Across two inspiring days, the centre welcomed SEND schools from Shropshire.
First primary school pupils took part, followed at the next session by secondary school students, creating two memorable and impactful events.
Participants were able to enjoy a wide range of inclusive activities, including:
- Cricket sessions delivered by Cricket Shropshire coaches
- Team-building exercises designed to build confidence and communication
- Dance sessions encouraging movement and expression
- Unique workshops with the centre’s horses, offering a calm and engaging experience for many young people
Cricket Shropshire’s Vanessa Russell said: “The Cavalier Centre provided the perfect setting, with its large indoor arena allowing all activities to take place in a safe, accessible and welcoming environment.
“Their ongoing commitment to inclusion and wellbeing continues to make a real difference to young people across the region.
“Energize, as always, delivered a brilliantly organised event, bringing together schools, providers and activities in a way that truly supports inclusive participation in sport and physical activity.
“It was fantastic to see so many young people engaged, smiling and trying something new. Cricket Shropshire is delighted to play a part in creating these opportunities and looks forward to continuing to support inclusive programmes across the county.”
