Thomas Adams claim Girls U15s indoor crown

Congratulations to Thomas Adams (Wem) Under 15 Girls who claimed the Shropshire Schools Indoor crown after victory on Finals Day at Wrekin College.
They now go on to represent Shropshire in the regional Under 15s finals at Edgbaston in May.
They were joined at the Shropshire finals by teams from hosts Wrekin College, Moreton Hall, Shrewsbury High, Ludlow School and Newport Girls High.
The teams were split into two groups with the top two going forward to the semi-finals.
Competitions organiser Darrell Corfield said: “The standard was high as Moreton and Thomas Adams took top spots in the two groups with Shrewsbury High and Wrekin also making their way to the finals as group runners-up.”
Wrekin took on Moreton in a high scoring and encounter – batting first Wrekin made 108 with consistent scoring throughout, and despite some big hitting, Moreton fell short at 83-6 off their eight overs.
Wrekin were joined in the final by Thomas Adams who came out on top in a very competitive match with Shrewsbury High.
Thomas Adams were inserted and were restricted by a disciplined Shrewsbury High bowling attack as they were made to work for their 73-6.
Shrewsbury High set about their task in a positive manner and were very much the favourites going into the final few overs, but Thomas Adams eventually prevailed with some miserly bowling to run out winners by just four runs.
The final on paper looked to be a close-run encounter, but Thomas Adams had other ideas as they won the toss and chose to bowl first.
They did not regret that decision, as they bowled Wrekin out for 29 inside six overs and knocked off the runs without losing a wicket in the third over.
Darrell added: “Congratulations to Thomas Adams on winning the Under 15s title, and good luck in the regional finals. Also well done to all who took part in what was an excellent competition with standards high throughout.”
