Young Ambassadors Scheme success
The success of Cricket Shropshire’s Young Ambassadors programme was highlighted during the Presentation Evening held at the Albright Hussey Hotel.
The scheme has been running for a number of years now, encouraging youngsters to get involved at their cricket clubs by giving them the skills to do so.
Katie Rushton explained: “The aim is to get these youngsters involved with their club’s volunteer workforce.
“During the programme, the Young Ambassadors complete a First Aid course and are given officials and activator training.
“This gives them with an understanding of both officiating and the first step on the coaching ladder. Following this session, we ask them to complete a minimum of twenty hours of activity supporting their clubs during the Summer.
“Most get involved in activities such as scoring junior matches, supporting All Stars and Dynamos coaching and lending a hand at club events.
“It is fantastic to hear about the activity the young people get involved in and we hope they continue to support their clubs moving forward.”
In attendance on the night were to collect their certificates were Young Ambassadors Millie Parry, Joel Tomlinson, Ben Smith, Ellie Taylor and Scarlett Bowen.
