Year 7s enjoy day out at CTS schools competition

Schools from across Shropshire enjoyed a day packed with cricket and fun in the Chance to Shine Year 7s mixed cricket festival held at Frankwell CC in Shrewsbury.
Teams from Charlton in Wellington, Ercall Wood, Church Stretton and Thomas Adams in Wem came together for the day.
Each school played four games in a round-robin format, with the festival officially classed as an Under 12s mixed event.
Cricket Shropshire Development Administrator Vanessa Russell said: “It was brilliant to see so many teams getting stuck in, with plenty of skill on display and some great sportsmanship throughout the day.
“What made the day even more special was seeing pupils practicing between games, encouraging each other and clearly enjoying the opportunity to play. The atmosphere was buzzing with laughter, determination and school pride.
“At the end of the day, medals were awarded to mark the occasion and celebrate the brilliant efforts of all involved. A big thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the festival such a success!
“I absolutely love coming to photograph these events and chatting with the teachers.
“They’re always so positive about the work Cricket Shropshire is doing, and it’s clear how much the children enjoy taking part, no matter their age or experience. It’s brilliant to see cricket bringing so many smiles to young faces.”
