Women’s Softball Cricket is the fastest growing area in Shropshire with different formats to cater for everyone. At Cricket Shropshire we facilitate and run soft ball activity all year round with outdoor leagues and festivals throughout the Summer, and indoor competitions throughout the Winter.

Festivals
Women’s Soft Ball Festivals are an inclusive, fun experience of cricket with teams entering and coming together on Sundays to play round robin 6-a-side pairs cricket. Festivals are also accompanied by music and the odd glass of Prosecco or orange juice.
Similar with Astro-Turf Festivals, these take place in April before the Cricket season starts as a warm up for those ladies before festival and league activity commences.
Super 10’s League
The progression from the Soft Ball festivals is the Super 10’s league- providing a more competitive form of Soft Ball cricket for those ladies to develop their skills and game awareness. Clubs are entered into leagues at the start of the year and play on Sundays throughout the Cricket season. Culminating to win a space at the Strategic Leisure Super 10’s Finals Day in September.
Although the Super 10’s format utilises the Pairs format for the first half of fixtures for the season the return fixtures are T20 format to really push and progress the ladies level.
Floodlit Cricket
A new format for 2023, the floodlit cricket takes place at Press CC using the same 6-a-side pairs format just, under lights. This offers a more intense, new playing experience that is exciting for all involved. With the bar and food on service as well as brilliant music, it offers a fantastic, new opportunity for the ladies.
Indoor Leagues
The Women’s Softball Indoor Leagues take place from October to December and January to March in different locations – two centrally and one towards the north of the county.
These leagues are 6-a-side pairs format with indoor rules e.g. 1 run for hitting the wall, 2 runs for completing a run. These leagues allow the ladies a year round offer with a more intense, fast-paced format with the indoor scoring system.
Ultra Violet Cricket (UV)
We first introduced the UV cricket in October 2022 as a Hallowe’en offer. It utilises the indoor 6-a-side rules just in a more fun and novel way. The ladies dress up and the enjoy the music, UV paint and the more relaxed style of this competition.
