Two spaces available on Young Ambassadors course
Two spaces have become available on Cricket Shropshire’s Young Ambassadors course which is running at the end of July.
The popular course became fully booked after it was launched in May – but now two of the participants can no longer take part.
This Summer’s course is being held at Wrekin College on July 23 and 24, and follows on from the courses run by the Board earlier in the year which were also fully booked.
The first Young Ambassadors programme took place in 2021 with the aim of helping youngsters develop their leadership skills and then put them into practice by volunteering at their clubs.
It is aimed at 13-17-year-olds.
It is backed by former Worcestershire and Shropshire ace Jack Shantry who is now part of the First Class Umpiring panel and officiated at his first international game last Summer.
Jack helped launch the programme back in 2021 when he donated some of the proceeds from his benefit year to Cricket Shropshire.
We are delighted to have Jack on board as our Patron.
Day one of this summer’s course on July 23 will feature sessions on officiating, safeguarding, EDI and Grounds Maintenance.
The following day the focus will be on coaching and Mini Medics.
The participants will then be asked to go back to their clubs and complete 20 hours of voluntary work.
Programme Lead Shannon Aston said: “Unfortunately two of the participants who had booked can no longer attend so we are looking to see if there is anyone else who wants to attend.”
