SACO Presentation Evening planned

The Shropshire Association of Cricket Officials (SACO) is staging an end of season Presentation Evening next month.

It will take place at St Georges CC in Telford on Thursday, October 16 from 7pm and will include a buffet.

The event will include a summary of the season from SACO’s viewpoint and the group will also be launching a series of awards for scorers and umpires to recognise their efforts during the season.

Scorers and umpires at all levels of cricket in Shropshire are invited to attend – they should contact Secretary Andy Johnson via se*******@**********co.uk if they wish to attend with details of any dietary requirements.

SACO is also looking for nominations from clubs for four of the awards they are planning to hand out in the following categories.

CLUB UMPIRE OF THE YEAR:
This for an umpire in Divisions 2 downwards that can be voted for by all – clubs should provide a brief explanation as to why they have nominated their candidate.

SCORER OF THE YEAR:
Again, open to any club, team or umpire to nominate their scorer, with a brief explanation as to why they have been nominated. This is open to any person who has scored in any form of cricket in Shropshire in 2025.

MOST SUPPORTIVE AND BEST COLLEAGUE:
A Scorer’s Scorer Award. A brief explanation as to why they have been nominated.

MOST IMPROVED OR PROGRESSED SCORER AWARD:
Again a brief explanation the reasons for the nomination.

Please send entries to Andy via the above email address with a contact email, name of person nominated and few words about why they have nominated the individual.

There are other awards to be presented on the night that will be decided by the respective SACO Umpires and Scorers Committees.

Nominations need to be returned to Andy Johnson via se*******@**********co.uk by close of play on September 20, 2025.
