Liv and Holly receive ECB awards

Shropshire’s national Cricket Collective Award winners Liv Preston and Holly Fozzard have received their trophies and certificates from the ECB.

Liv, from Allscott Heath CC, was named as the ECB’s Rising Star winner in the 2024 Cricket Collective awards for volunteers aged 11-16 making a difference in the game.

Holly, from Cound CC, was highly commended in the Inspired to Play category for individuals going above and beyond to open up the game to new audiences.

Both won their categories in the Shropshire awards which were handed out at the annual presentation evening held at the Albright Hussey Hotel near Shrewsbury in November.

Her nomination for the Shropshire award said: “Liv has had an incredible year, developing significantly in both skill and confidence. She is a positive role model, actively supporting and encouraging her team, and taking her leadership roles seriously.

“She is keen to learn more about scoring and umpiring, and promotes cricket within her school community.

“Her attitude, resilience, and support for others are inspiring, making her a rising star in the sport. She consistently helps others during training and matches, offering guidance and feedback.

“Her enthusiasm and dedication inspire her peers, and her leadership roles demonstrate her commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.”

Holly’s award nomination said: “Described as ‘a phenomenal coach’, Holly has inspired not only the next generation of cricketers at Cound, but also the next generation of women’s softball cricketers.

“Nurturing players of any age to form a love and passion for the game, she really has taken her club to the next stage of its development.

“She has been described as ‘the best coach ever’ by the juniors at their club. A fantastic advocate of the ‘Spirit of Cricket’ she thoroughly deserves the Inspire to Play Award.”

Cricket Shropshire Lead Officer Steve Reece said: “Congratulations once again to Liv and Holly. It’s brilliant to see volunteers in Shropshire recognised at a national level.

“We know how much hard work and dedication volunteers at clubs across Shropshire put in every single day.”

Look out for the launch of the 2025 ECB Cricket Collective awards in Shropshire when the nomination process opens soon.
