Albrighton claim first Furrows league win of season

Albrighton claimed their first win of the season in the Furrows East Shropshire Mid-Week League Division Two when they hosted Newport.

Batting first, the visitors found themselves in early trouble at 36-5 but recovered to finish on 145-7 thanks to 35 from Aaron Bell and 21 from Hector Westmoreland. Daniel Palmer claimed two of the wickets to fall.

An unbeaten 52 from opener Ben Glendinning before he retired and 36 from Alex Lawrence saw the hosts to victory in the 18th over with three wickets to spare.

They did have a late scare when Ewan Woodhouse claimed 2-23 and Phil Spode 3-16 for the Fishes.

Codsall stayed top of the table after edging out Broseley by 15 runs in a low scoring game at The Stocking.

Batting first, Karandeep Singh Aulakh made a rapid 14 at the top of the order and Sean Dearn 23, but they were restricted to 106-7 with Chris Lloyd and Brandon Platt both claiming two wickets.

Broseley stuttered in reply in the face of some tight bowling, Naveed Khan the stand out with 5-13 from his four overs as the hosts were dismissed for 91 with Dan Handley top scoring with 18.

Ben Walley and Taha Munawar both claimed 2-8.

Wheaton Aston got the better of Lilleshall in another tight affair.

Batting first, Adam Binfield (52 not out) and Chris Birkett (35) got Lilleshall off to a good start before wickets started to fall as they finished their overs on 137-6.

Opener Andy Nicol led the way with the bat in the reply with an unbeaten 50 and Rob Willis 23 but Lilleshall kept chipping away with Conor Keenan taking 2-20 and Hameed Firozkhilh 2-21.

Wheaton Aston eventually reached their victory target for the loss of seven wickets.

In Division One, Church Eaton Knights continue to lead the way after beating second placed Forton.

Archie Wilkes claimed 3-22 as Forton were dismissed for 88.

In reply, Church Eaton were reduced to 20-3 with Charlie Sykes claiming a couple of wickets, but Sam Whitehouse (25 not out) and James Churchill (29 not out) ensured they took the victory for the loss of four wickets.

The other game saw Priorslee get the better of Harpers with three balls to spare.

Batting first, Harpers made 126-6 with Vivian John (44) and Manikandan Muthu (41) the main contributors as Vipin Mohan claimed an impressive 4-19 from his four overs.

Yaswanth Avula struck three times early in the reply as Priorslee were reduced to 6-3 but they got over the line with three balls to spare, Unni Kurin top scoring with 27.
