Quatt claim Dave Vart Memorial U15s Trophy
Quatt claimed the delayed 2025 Dave Vart Memorial Under 15s trophy with a hard-fought victory over Church Eaton at Oswestry CC.
The game was rearranged from the end of last season after the weather prevented the finals day from going ahead at Morda Road on the appointed date.
Quatt skipper Charlie Wheldon won the toss and chose to bat and might have regretted his decision when his side were 47-6 from nine overs.
But he then led from the front with an unbeaten half century before retiring in the final over.
Alex Judson-Owen chipped with an important unbeaten 14 at the end of the innings to help boost the Quatt total to 129-7 from their 20 overs.
Arran Peasley led the way for the Church Eaton attack claiming 3-24 with Oliver Rowlands claiming two wickets, topping an efficient fielding performance.

In the reply, Archie Wilkes hit an impressive 29 off 24 balls and Harvey Sidwell 26, but the Quatt bowlers kept picking up wickets at crucial points in the innings to keep the game in the balance.
In the end, they restricted Church Eaton to 120-7 to claim victory by nine runs. Harrison Hakeman claimed 2-14 and Josh Hulland 2-21.
Cricket Shropshire Lead Officer Steve Reese said: “Firstly many thanks to James Bradbury Chair of Oswestry, Dave Hill Groundsman and Andy Leggatt Junior Co-ordinator for hosting.
“Well done to both teams on a close-fought contest – it was a fitting final – and congratulations to Quatt on claiming the trophy.
“We’re looking forward to this season’s Under 15s competition which is already under way, and fingers crossed the weather will allow us to get the Finals Day played on August Bank Holiday Monday.”
The Under 15s trophy is dedicated to the memory of Oswestry CC stalwart Dave Vart who was heavily involved with all aspects of the club for many years and a leading light for the junior section.
He was represented at Finals Day by Blanche, his partner of many years, along with son and former Shropshire batter Joe Carrasco and his partner Victoria who both travelled down from Glasgow on the morning of the final to be there.
Steve added: “Our thanks got to Ray Collins and Allan Kynaston who were the standing umpires for the Final”
Shannon Aston (Junior League Co-ordinator) and Sacha Lee (Schools and Community Manager) were on hand to oversee the presentations on behalf of Cricket Shropshire.
