Record numbers for Shropshire Junior Leagues
There will be a record number of teams taking part in Cricket Shropshire’s Junior Leagues this Summer.
In total, 124 teams have been entered across five age groups from clubs across Shropshire and beyond.
Cricket Shropshire is also looking at the possibility of running an Under 17s competition in July once the exam season is over and has asked for Expressions of Interest from clubs, see details below.
Competitions will run at Under 11s Development, Under 11s Hard Ball, Under 13s Pairs/T20, Under 13s T20 and Under 15s, with matches getting underway early in May.
Cricket Shropshire Lead Officer Steve Reese said: “It’s great to see record numbers of teams taking part in our junior competitions this season – continuing the trend of recent years.
“We’ve got a team from Wheaton Aston in the for the first time, and Acton Reynald and Wroxeter have added Under 13s sides for this season to their teams in the Under 11s competition.
“It’s also good to see Broseley entering three junior teams despite not having a senior side in the Shropshire County Cricket League this season.
“And Whittington now have teams at all levels from U11s to U15s – their Under 15s side is one combined with Bomere Heath.”
Codsall and Bridgnorth both have two teams at Under 11s, Wellington, Shelton, Madeley and Alberbury/Montgomery all have two teams at U13s and Forton two at U15 level.

Steve added: “We’re also asking clubs if they are interested in entering a side in an Under 17s competition which will start after the school exam season is finished in July.
“We are happy to run the competition if there are enough entries – at the moment we have five expressions of interest and it would be great to get more.”
