Busy time for Performance and MCC Foundation programmes

It’s been a busy Autumn for our Pathway coaches with more than 500 boys and girls attending sessions as part of our trials programme.

There have been 200 youngsters attending our Early Engagement Programme for Boys (Under 11 & 12) and Girls (Under 11, 12 & 13).

And more than 300 youngsters have been through the County Age Group trials with squads being selected for Under 13, 14, 16 & 18 Boys and U14, 16 & 18 Girls.

Squad sessions for the County Age Group sides have already begun, and those for the Early Engagement Programmes will start in January.

Cricket Shropshire has also expanded its MCC Foundation programme for 2026 for State School pupils – and there are still some spaces available for the Girls squads that we will be running at Under 14 & 17 age groups.

If anyone is interested in their daughter joining the programme, please contact Cricket Shropshire’s Early Engagement Programme Manager Darrell Corfield via darrell.corfield@cricketshropshire.co.uk

The MCC Foundation Boys Squads for 2026 at U13 & 15 level are full. Sessions for both Boys and Girls will start in January.

Pathway and Coaching Manager Ed Ashlin said: “We have expanded our MCC Programme offer across more age groups this Winter, allowing us to support more players from state schools who were not selected within the County Age Group Programme.

“The MCC Programme is a crucial part of our Player Pathway allowing us to expand our reach to provide coaching for more players. We thank the MCC for their continued support and look forward to the continued evolution of the programme in the future.”
