Wem’s stolen outfield mower found

The John Deere outfield mower from Wem CC on Friday has been found and recovered.
It was spotted abandoned in a field of maize by a dog walker in Great Bolas on Saturday who reported it to the police.
They in turn contacted officials from Wem who travelled out to the field on Saturday evening to identify it.
It has now been taken by police to Shrewsbury for forensic tests as they bid to identify the thieves after other similar equipment stolen in north Shropshire was also recovered.
Wem Chair Shaun Astley said: “It’s really good news. We won’t know exactly what state it’s in until it has been released back to us by police but we’re really pleased to get it back.
“Obviously if anyone saw anything suspicious involving a low loader in the Great Bolas area on Friday or Saturday, get in touch with the police as it may help them in their investigations.
“Big thanks to all in the Shropshire cricket community who shared the story on Friday. We had six or seven messages with support and offers of help.”
