Priorslee claim opening Furrows evening league win

Priorslee made their mark in their first game in the new Furrows East Shropshire Mid-Week League with a 40-run victory at Forton after their bye in the first week.
The week’s games were weather-affected with two abandoned, but two others were played to a conclusion, albeit with reduced overs
Batting first, Priorslee finished on 141-5 from their 16 overs with skipper Shantanu Golar hitting 52 off 36 balls before he retired as required by the competition rules.
Charlie Sykes was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts with 2-16 from his three overs.
Skipper Joe Roberts led the Forton reply with 29 from 25 balls before he was dismissed, and Adam Goulding hit an unbeaten 27 off 25 as Forton finished on 101-3 with Nithin Nedungattu picking up 2-14.
Albrighton picked up their first win with victory over visitors Wrekin College.
Batting first, the visitors lost two early wickets to Chris Morris who claimed 2-4 from his two overs. But Samuel Crawford (31) and George Osbourne steadied the ship and then accelerated to see their side to 97-2 from their 15 overs.
Morris then led the Albrighton reply with an unbeaten 31 from 20 balls before he retired in the reduced overs match.
Will Honicke (2-14) and Crawford (2-8) then brought Wrekin right back into the game, but Albrighton then held their nerve to hit the winning runs with two balls to spare.
Newport made a fast start when they made the short trip down the A518 to Church Road to take on St Georges 2.
They had reached 100 off just 8.3 overs with skipper Baadal Parag hitting 51 off 26 balls before he retired with Ed Fowler unbeaten on 27 off 15 balls after 8.3 overs when the weather closed in and the game was abandoned.
The clash between Lilleshall and St Georges 1 was abandoned without a ball being bowled. Attempts will be made to rearrange both games.
Thanks once again to Furrows for their support for their league.
