Wroxeter’s Incrediball U11s success

Congratulations to Wroxeter & Uppington’s Under 11s who sealed their regional title in Cricket Shropshire’s U10/11 Incrediball League.

The success comes in the first season back in competitive Junior League cricket for Wroxeter and they sealed the title with a close-fought victory in their final game against Whittington.

Club Chair Jon Harris said he was proud of the team’s progress and the overwhelming support they had received from parents and the local community.

He said: “We’ve worked hard over the past five years to revive the junior section of the club, and seeing these young players take to the pitch with such energy and enjoyment is incredibly rewarding.

“It’s more than just cricket, it’s about creating a community. With some of our girls already involved in coaching sessions too, we’re excited about the inclusive future of the club.”

“Our future depends on the young players we develop today, they are the heartbeat of tomorrow’s club.”

Both Wroxeter and Whittington took part in a fantastic contest showcasing the progress that a full season of playing and learning can bring.

Cricket Shropshire Lead Officer Steve Reese was on hand to present the league shield.

He said: ““It’s vital that children are given the chance to play, have fun, and grow through cricket. What clubs like Wroxeter & Uppington are doing, building from the ground up, is exactly what grassroots sport is all about.”

Cricket Shropshire’s Development Administrator Vanessa Russell, who was also at the game, added: “The smiles today say it all.

“When we create a positive and inclusive environment for younger children to play cricket, we build more than teams. We build confidence, friendships, and a love for the game that will last a lifetime.”
