Women’s XI face Oxfordshire in Metro Bank One Day Cup final clash
Good luck to Shropshire’s Women’s XI who take on Oxfordshire on Sunday in their Metro Bank One Day Cup League Three Division Two final.
It will be a chance to gain revenge on Oxfordshire who claimed the T20 final when the same two sides met in that competition earlier in the season.
Sunday’s game is due to take place at Kibworth CC in Leicestershire with a 10.30am start for the 50-over game – weather permitting.
Their victory over Lincolnshire in their final group game last weekend meant they finished top of the North Group just ahead of Northumberland with three victories and an abandonment out of their four games to qualify for the final.
Skipper Lara Jones: “We’ve had a fantastic season and grown stronger together as a team.
“Now we’re looking to carry the momentum from our last game into the final and deliver our best performance yet.
“Our last finals day didn’t go the way we hoped, but this time we’re more determined than ever to bring the trophy home.
“A huge thank you to everyone who’s supported us throughout the season – it truly means a lot.”
Coach Sam Whitney said: “It’s a great achievement to reach another national final. One last push on Sunday and hopefully we can go one better than we did in the T20 competition.
“I’m proud of this group. It’s been a long season, but for the girls to keep making themselves available, especially for the long away days, they deserve every success they’ve had.”
The Shropshire squad for the big game is: Kate Brazier, Ava Clive, Isabelle Crann, Amy Griffiths, Alex Hale,Lara Jones (c), Aamna Khan, Millie Parry, Sophia Parton, Harriet Shuker, Olivia Smith, Libby Thomas (wk)
