U13s fall short in run chase

A stuttering run chase saw Shropshire Under 13 Boys fall short after an impressive bowling performance when they travelled to Hagley CC to take on Worcestershire.
Shropshire skipper Ruben Pembleton won the toss and asked the hosts to bat first after rain had delayed the start to the game.
And they had Worcestershire on the ropes when they were reduced to 68-8 thanks to Andreas Davis taking 3-38, Lewis Sampson 2-16 and Alastair Pengelly 2-16 combined with a couple of early run outs.
But an eighth wicket partnership of 58 boosted the total to 131 before the final wicket of the innings fell on the last ball of the 30th over.
Shropshire also suffered an early collapse in the reply and found themselves 59-6. Noah Quinn (29) and Davis (21) got them going again, but once they were both out Shropshire were dismissed for 98 to give the hosts victory by 33 runs.
The Under 11 girls hosted Worcestershire at Church Stretton and restricted the visitors to 112-7 in their 20 overs with Matilda Follwell with pick of the bowlers with 2-15. But they then struggled with the bat as they were dismissed for 35.
The Under 18 Girls found the going tough when they travelled to Loughborough Grammar School to take on their Leicestershire counterparts in two T20 fixtures.
In the first game Erin Newey made 21 but the rest of the batting failed as they were dismissed for 54. The hosts knocked off the runs without losing a wicket.
In the second game Shropshire again batted first and were dismissed for 67, Millie Parry top scoring with 16. Isabelle Crann picked up the only wicket to fall as Leicestershire claimed the victory.
The Under 14 boys suffered their first defeat of the season when they hosted Nottinghamshire at Wem CC.
Batting first after skipper Ralph Davies won the toss, a number of batters made it to double figures but no-one went on to make a big score as they were dismissed for 131 in the 37th over.
Davies picked up 2-20 from his nine overs in the reply, but the visitors reached their victory target for the loss of four wickets in the 30th over.
