Two more wins for Women’s XI

Cricket Shropshire’s Women’s XI maintained their fine run with two more victories in their Vitality Blast T20 Group when they hosted Lincolnshire at Shifnal CC.
It means they are now clear at the top of League 3 Division Two North with vital games against second placed Cumbria to come later this month.
In the first game against Lincolnshire, skipper Lara Jones won the toss and elected to bat first, but saw her side in some trouble early on at 56-5.
But 22 from Emily Churms and then 37 off 28 balls from Erin Newey before she was run out off the last ball of the innings boosted the Shropshire total to 129-8.
Opening bursts from Kate Brazier (2-6), Emily Churms (1-15) and Amy Griffiths (2-5) then had Lincolnshire reeling at 22-5 and they never really recovered to finish on 82-8 to give Shropshire victory by 47 runs.
Lincolnshire won the toss in the second game and elected to bat first and this time managed to hit 141-4 from their 20 overs with the wickets shared around.
Opener Libby Thomas anchored the Shropshire reply with an unbeaten 54 off 49 balls, while Newey kept the board ticking with 20, Harriet Shuker 22 and Amy Griffiths 18 as they reached their victory target for the loss of three wickets with 11 balls to spare.
