Shropshire Seniors net sessions arranged

Shropshire Seniors have a number of net sessions arranged at Shrewsbury School’s Indoor Centre ahead of the 2026 season.

The sessions have been split between the groups to make sure everyone can make the best of the time allocated, and there will be a small charge for each session.

  • Over 50 sessions:
  • Saturday, 14 March – 2 nets (1-3pm), Saturday, 11 April – 2 nets (1-3pm), Monday 13 April, – 2 nets (7-9pm), Thursday 16 April, – 2 nets (7-9pm)
  • Over 60/70 sessions:
  • Tuesday, 7 April – 2 nets (8-10pm), Friday, 10 April – 2 nets (8-9pm), Tuesday, 14 April – 2 nets (8-10pm)

Fixtures for the season have been released, but there are still many venues to be sorted.

This year will be the first time that Shropshire has entered a team in the Over 70s national competition – as agreed at the AGM in November.

They will feature in a group alongside Cheshire, Gloucestershire, Lancashire, Staffordshire/Derbyshire, Wales and Worcestershire.

Shortly after the AGM, an Over 70s sub-group met and the following arrangements were agreed for the Over 70s squad.

  • Peter Hayes and Tym Fern to be joint captains
  • Geoff Bristow acting as team manager
  • A new O70 WhatsApp group will be set up by Tym Fern – so if you are interested in playing make sure he has your details
  • A pre-season warm up match to be arranged prior to the league season starting
  • Selection to be managed by Peter, Tym and Geoff

Chair John Foster added: “Peter Hayes will soon be jetting off to Australia/New Zealand with the England Over 70 squad to play matches in Australia and compete in the O70 World Cup in New Zealand.

“We wish him well – good luck Peter!”
