Online ECB Umpiring course available

Calling all clubs in Shropshire: do you have someone who wants to become a qualified Umpire – whether for league fixtures, junior games or Women & Girls cricket?
Did you know they can start their officiating journey by completing a simple online course with the ECB?
The Basics of Umpiring Course can be found here – and once anyone has completed it the Shropshire Association of Cricket Officials (SACO) can help them develop their careers.
Cricket Shropshire Lead Officer Steve Reese said: “As part of our CPA (County Partnership Agreement) with ECB, we have committed to support the promotion of volunteers in the game and one of the key volunteering roles is Officiating, both umpiring and scoring.
“We have compiled a plan with the SACO to attract more people to officiate, whether that is Junior matches, Women and Girls, Disability, Weekend or Midweek, just to get people involved, particularly the youth.
“It is also about better education and awareness of the Laws of Cricket, which change every year. Players can improve their knowledge quite simply by taking part in the NEW on-line Basic Umpiring course.
“We would encourage as many people as possible to register and take part.
“In the coming weeks there will be an on-line scorers’ course which again we would encourage as many people as possible to register.”
The online Umpires course can be found HERE.
