Knights on the charge in Furrows Mid-Week League

Church Eaton Knights continued their fine form in the Furrows East Shropshire Mid-Week League with a hard-fought victory on their travels to take on Newport at Audley Avenue.
They were in early trouble as Nadeem Chohan took a couple of early wickets and they found themselves 52-3.
But Robert Hogarth (51 before retiring) and skipper Will Ross (48) combined to get them back on track and Sam Whitehouse hit 24 off 14 balls as they pushed their total up to 176-7 off their 20 overs.
Newport’s reply started well with Ed Fowler hitting 54 off 24 balls before he retired and skipper Baadal Parag 41.
But change bowlers Sam Whitehouse (2-27) and Richard West (2-19) helped put the brakes on and despite Gwilym Jones’ unbeaten 25, the Fishes were restricted to 165-5 to give the Knights victory by 11 runs.
Forton claimed their fourth win of the season when they hosted Lilleshall.
Batting first, the visitors finished on 145-4 with Adam Binfield hitting 22 at the top of the order, S O’Brien 40 ad Oli Todd 21. Henry Spencer claimed 2-22 and James DuBoulay 2-20.
Despite losing an early wicket, Joe Roberts (30), Ben Yates-Ward (31), Spencer (50 off 26 balls) and Louis Hancock (23 not out) made sure they reached their victory target with three overs to spare.
Albrighton’s Chris Morris continued his fine form with the bat when his side took on Priorslee.
He hit an unbeaten 51 and Hasibullah Shah Ghasi 35 for the visitors, but the rest of the batting failed to fire as Albrighton were restricted to 119-7.
Shantau Golar claimed 3-17 and Binoy Mannekkattukudy Kurian 2-12 for Priorslee.
In the reply, Ajay Karamkanty hit 48 and Bahul Babu 31, and despite Josh Brown claiming 2-28 and Sanjiv Jogi 2-3, Priorslee claimed victory by five wickets with plenty of overs to spare.
In a re-arranged game at the end of last week, Wrekin College hosted Forton and saw the visitors hit 183-3 from their 20 overs with James DuBoulay htting an unbeaten 51, Joe Roberts 33 and Sam and Yuvrag Gill 24 each. Ben Crawford claimed two wickets.
