Furrows East Shropshire Evening League fixtures released

Forget the rain – the cricket season is fast approaching and we’ve now finalised the fixtures for this Summer’s edition of the Furrows East Shropshire Evening League.

With an increase in the number of teams for 2026, the league has expanded will now feature two divisions.

There will be six teams in each division which means teams will play each other home and away – meaning ten games in total.

Division One will feature defending champions St Georges, last season’s runners-up Church Eaton Knights, Priorslee, Allscott Heath, Harpers and Forton.

Albrighton, Newport, Lilleshall, Wheaton Aston, Codsall and Broseley are in Division Two.

The games are scheduled to be played on Tuesday evenings throughout the season unless there is an agreement between teams to switch dates.

The first round of fixtures are due to be played on Tuesday, May 5, with the final round of games scheduled for Tuesday, July 15.

League Administrator Tim Bellett said: “It’s been great to see the growing interest in this competition during the winter months, with an increase in the number of teams taking part from nine to 12.

“Cricket Shropshire identified a need for an evening league in the East of the county back in 2024 to compliment the successful Shrewsbury and District Evening League which serves the West.

“Our aim is to provide a ‘friendly’ competitive competition that encourages participation amongst people who might not be available to play the longer format at weekends.

“The feedback we had last year was that clubs did see new players come through their doors, and some of those went on to play weekend cricket, which is fantastic.”

Fixtures have been sent out to all clubs along with a copy of the rules for 2026.
