Fishes swarm to Furrows League win after big partnership

A brilliant partnership between Iain Anderson and Michael Myatt helped Newport to another victory in the Furrows East Shropshire Mid-Week League when they travelled to Wrekin College.
The pair came together with Newport on 120-5 and each hit rapid half centuries to help boost the Fishes’ total to 247-6 from their 20 overs.
Earlier skipper Baadall Parag hit 32 and Bobby Gill 22 while Barnaby Rhodes picked up three wickets for the students and Matthew Marshall two.
In reply, the students were bowled out for 133 with Ewan Woodhouse unbeaten on 20 and Sebastian Ball making 22.
Forton eased to victory when they travelled to Albrighton with openers Joe Roberts (47) and Sam Gill (45) the main contributors to their total of 178-4.
Sam Wood was the standout bowler for Albrighton with 3-18.
A devastating opening burst from Charlie Sykes (4-20) reduced the hosts to 25-4 before Hardeep Kumar led the recovery with an unbeaten 53 from 45 balls.
But Albrighton still fell 33 runs short of their victory target on 145-8.
Church Eaton Knights continued their fine form – they’ve lost only one game so far – with a victory over Priorslee.
Plenty of Priorslee batters got starts – seven got into double figures – but Shantanu Golar and Binoy Mannekkattukudy Kurian with 21 and 20 respectively were the top scorers as they finished on 137-8 from their 20 overs.
Will Ross, Matthew Burslem and Richard West all picked up two wickets for the Knights.
In the reply, Michael Holdcroft hit 42 off 25 balls and West 23 as Church Eaton claimed victory by seven wickets in the 17th over.
Thanks to Furrows for their continued support of the league.
