Chance to attend ECB Women & Girls conference

The Women and Girls’ game in Shropshire has seen huge growth in recent years – a trend that has been mirrored across the country.

We have more girls involved in the game than ever before in Shropshire with many clubs now having females involved in key roles.

Now the ECB has launched a new conference being staged in the Midlands next month – The Metro Bank Girls in Cricket Fund Network Live 2026: Leading the Future of Women’s Cricket.

It is taking place at the East Midlands Conference Centre at the University of Nottingham on  March 7th & 8th, and clubs in Shropshire have been invited to get involved.

Through the ECB partnership with Metro Bank, it will be the first conference of its kind for coaches and leaders working across the women’s and girls’ game.

It has been designed to support people at all stages of their journey, and to provide space for learning, reflection and discussion that simply doesn’t exist elsewhere within cricket.

Cricket Shropshire Lead Officer Steve Reese said: “it’s a great initiative allowing people from all aspects of the Women and Girls game to come together.”

The two days are structured around two clear themes.

Day One: Leading Self and Leading Others

Day one focuses on the individual. How coaches and leaders understand themselves, work effectively with others, and contribute positively within their clubs and committees.

Day Two: Leading Culture and Leading Change

Day two widens the lens to look at culture, systems and the future of the women’s and girls’ game.

The cost of the conference is £200 per person, inclusive of all food, refreshments and accommodation, an invitation to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 celebration evening and the free wellbeing activities provided as part of International Women’s Day.

All of this is also included for just £125 per person without accommodation, and with twin rooms available, two people can attend for £325
