Cricket Shropshire’s Under 11 Girls continued their fine start to the season with two T20 wins over Herefordshire at Pentland Gardens.

It follows on from their two wins over Cricket North Wales earlier in the year in their first games.

In the first game against Herefordshire, they were asked to bat first and finished their 20 overs on 109-3 with skipper Zara Tomkins making 36 and Sophie Kundu unbeaten on 26.

They then bowled Herefordshire out for 51 with Esme Bartlett-Minton claiming 2-6 and Nilasha Patel 3-8 to win by 58 runs

Shropshire Under 14 Boys at Stourbridge

The Under 14 Boys enjoyed their trip to Stourbridge to take on Worcestershire, returning home with an impressive 89-run victory.

After being put in to bat, openers Ollie Dyson (54) and Lakmin Illeperuma (64) put on 125 for the first wicket to lay a solid foundation.

Will Parkinson-Witte (47) and a brisk 41off just 28 balls from skipper Matt Moriis helped boost the total to 265-7 from their 45 overs.

In the reply, Worcestershire struggled to build significant partnerships, and with Dyson claiming 5-30 they were bowled out for 176. George Davies chipped in with 2-26.

Coach Tyler Ibbotson said: “It was a balanced team performance with both bat and ball and the team will be looking to carry this momentum forward as they prepare to face Northants at Oundle School.”

The Under 16 Boys did not fare so well on their trip to Worcestershire. Batting first, they were dismissed for 196 built around Finn Jones’ 80 from 85 balls at the top of the order with Alex Heath making 27.

But they then failed to get to grips with the Worcestershire batting line up despite picking up an early wicket, and the hosts claimed a nine-wicket victory.

The Under 13 Boys were edged out by 11 runs when they hosted Cricket North Wales at Whittington.

The restricted the visitors to 190-8 from their 40 overs with Fin Bradbury claiming 2-26 and Harry Dillon 2-17.

In the reply, Harry Harrison made 55 and Dillon 22, but they lost wickets at regular intervals and were eventually dismissed for 179 with nine balls left in their innings.

There was frustration for the Shropshire Women’s XI as their long trip to Fakenham to take on the hosts Norfolk and Northamptonshire in their T20 campaign fell victim to the weather.
