To mark International Women’s Day tomorrow (Saturday), Cricket Shropshire’s Women & Girls Recreational Cricket Officer Katie Rushton has been reflecting on a busy winter of activity, and a packed programme this Summer.
Cricket Shropshire is launching two new indoor tape ball competitions in the county for State Schools in conjunction with Chance to Shine.
There are a couple of Safeguarding updates from the ECB including its new Safeguarding Strategy for 2025-28.
Entries are now open for the 2025 ECB Vitality U13 and U15 Club competitions.
Entry is free and is open to all affiliated clubs in Shropshire for the county competition ahead of the regional and national stages.
The closing date for entries is March 28, 2025 and the full competition rules can be found via the ECB website England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) – The Official Website of the ECB
Clubs will arrange the County Finals in conjunction with Cricket Shropshire who will arrange for umpires to be present with match balls provided.
Medals and trophies will also be provided by Cricket Shropshire. The planned competition timelines can be seen below.

Cricket Shropshire and Furrows have forged a new partnership to help drive forward the recreational game in the county.
It was great to see 38 players at Shropshire County Cricket Club’s first pre-season net of 2025 – and the first run by new head Coach Ed Ashlin.
Congratulations to Shelton who claimed the Women’s Strategic Leisure Softball East Indoor League crown with victory over Condover at Finals Night at Wrekin College.
Cricket Shropshire continues to work to forge closer links with other bodies involved in the game in the County.
